I. IMPORTANCE OF STEADY, ALWAYS ON WI-FI
The general prerequisite is having a strong & stable Ohm Assistant Bot to Home Wi-Fi connection to ensure complete data collection and activity monitoring.
(a) The Wi-Fi Device Router used must be sufficiently close to the Ohm Assistant Bot.
This can be confirmed with a Good Signal Strength.
In any case, this value must not go below 35 %.
(b) The Wi-Fi Device Router must not have several competing devices that would cause the Ohm Assistant Bot to get disconnected, due to multiple devices overloading the access points.
(c) Ensure that the Wi-Fi remains ALWAYS ON.
If the Ohm Assistant Bot is not connected (or gets disconnected) from the Wi-Fi equipment at your premises, the Ohm Assistant Bot is unable to send any data for analysis. One evident outcome is that Zero Real Time Consumption is displayed on the App (Android, iOS or WebApp).
Also due to weak connection, the quality of data recording is also compromised, and detections may be missed.
II. TROUBLESHOOTING BOT to WI-FI CONNECTION ISSUES
In the rare event that the App displays zero values, it is a possibility that the Bot to Wi-Fi connection may need to be refreshed or re-established. Hence the following steps would be useful.
A. BOT RESET
RESET the Ohm Assistant Bot. This refreshes the basic settings
For this, simply press the RESET button on the bottom right of the device for a few seconds.
Check if this resolves the issue.
B. RESTART THE HOME WI-FI
RESTART the Home Wi-Fi to refresh the settings & connections.
Power off the device for a few minutes, then power the same on again.
Check if this resolves the issue.
C. BOT POWER RESTART
If required, proceed for a POWER RESTART to the Bot.
Switch OFF the mains supply for at least 15 seconds and then turn the power ON again.
Check if this resolves the issue.
D. BOT to Wi-Fi PAIRING
If the Bot is disconnected from the Wi-Fi, and both the RESET & POWER RESTART steps fail to resolve the issue, then proceed with the pairing process to pair (set up connection) between the Ohm Assistant ML-Bot to Home Wi-Fi network. Follow the below points to guide you through this process.
III. YOUTUBE VIDEO FOR PAIRING & CHANGING WI-FI
To change Wi-Fi, power off the router to which the bot is currently connected.
Then follow the steps in the video link
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6auSpETFH0
(a) Locate “ohm_xspot” in the Wi-Fi list. (In case Ohm xspot not visible, press RESET once on the Bot device)
(b) Connect to “ohm_xspot” and complete the setup process. Select the SSID to connect the Ohm Bot.
IV. OHM BOT to Wi-Fi PAIRING
The newly installed Ohm Assistant Bot device must be connected to the Internet, so data captured by the bot is relayed from the Bot to the servers for analysis and information can be pushed to the Ohm Assistant App.
Pairing is the process to have the handshake between Ohm Assistant Bot and the local Wi-Fi
- Ensure that the Ohm Bot (Hardware Device) is correctly installed, properly connected, and powered ON.
(a) Single Phase: The Blue LED is lit up indicating successful installation, but the bot not paired to any Wi-Fi device.
(b) Three Phase: The PWR (Power) LED (RED) is lit up. This remains on as long as the power supply is active. The Wi-Fi LED (RED) is off, since the bot is not paired to any Wi-Fi device.
-
Click the RESET button (Lower RHS) on the Bot Device.
-
For this activity, use a suitable device (such as Mobile/Laptop etc.).
First ensure that the phone or device must not get automatically connected to the internet.
(a) the Mobile Internet is disconnected.
(b) the regular home Wi-Fi network would need to be forgotten for the duration of the pairing process. -
Now, on the device (Mobile/Laptop etc.), check for available Wi-Fi networks.
Locate the network “ohm_xspot_id”. In this example, ohm_xspot_E8:68:E7:4E:E3:E1 -
Select the network “ohm_xspot_id”, enter the password “abcd1234” and your device (Mobile/Laptop etc.) will connect to the Bot Device.
(a) Single Phase: The Blue & Green LEDs starts blinking, indicating Hotspot pairing activity in progress.
(b) Three Phase: The PWR (Power) LED (RED) on the left is lit up. The WiFi LED (RED) on the right is off.
- Open the Browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari etc), and in your browser address bar, please enter the link http://setup.sustlabs.com
In case the above link does not work, alternatively use the link http://111.111.111.111
Ensure that you maintain the connection between the pairing device and the ohm bot.
Here ensure that the phone or device must not get automatically connected to other networks.
- You will get a screen displayed with a button “Choose Your Wi Fi Network”
Click this button to see the list of active networks.
(The screen may vary between Bot Type and Firmware)
- Select the preferred Wi Fi network (SSID) to be used. Click on the respective link.
Enter the password and click SAVE. The Ohm BOT Device will get connected to this preferred Wi-Fi network, and the mobile/laptop used in this pairing process gets automatically disconnected.
NOTE FOR PRIVATE NETWORKS REQUIRING AUTHENTICATION
To facilitate Bot to Wi-Fi (Router) Connection for Private Networks requiring Authentication (firewall), it is required to whitelist the following:
(a) Firewall Whitelist:
api-server.ddns.net
mqtt-server.ddns.net
(b) Ports: 80, 443, 1883, 8884
- Here, the Ohm Bot (Hardware Device) is confirmed as correctly installed with proper connections & successful pairing with the WiFi, with the LED displayed as follows.
(a) Single Phase: Green light blinking. (If there is no internet available for the WiFi at any stage, the green light is not displayed, and instead the blue led is displayed).
(b) Three Phase: The PWR (Power) LED (RED) remains lit up. The WiFi LED (RED) is also on.
THREE PHASE DEVICE PAIRED
- The screen displays the success message “Bingo! Your Ohm is now connected”.
Once the Ohm Assistant Bot is connected with the Home Wi-Fi, the pairing process is completed successfully.
Here reconnect the phone with the Internet (Mobile Internet or Home Wi-Fi)
Then proceed and click on the “Get Your Id”.
11. The Meter Id (Bot Id) for the device will be displayed, which is a 4-digit number.
Please carefully note/capture this Bot Id (or Device Id) for future reference.
This will be required when registering on the Ohm Assistant App.
(The screen may vary between Bot Type and Firmware)
